I owned and operated children's stores for 8 years and have worked in retail for 28 years. I have met so many kind people throughout the years, and I would like to thank them for allowing me to watch their children grow. I began My Favorite Things as sales representation for wholesale vendors that I had met along the way. These vendors had created absolutely wonderful products, but then needed guidance and direction in where to go from there and how to make their businesses grow and prosper. In my planning stages of this business, I cleaned out my daughter's room and found a little black leopard purse of hers. It had a sweet, little leopard cat on it (as sweet as my daughter), and it says MY FAVORITE THINGS on the front. As hard as "surviving in small business retail" has become in the past years with both the sluggish economy and the big box discounters moving in, I knew that this little purse was a sign to continue my life work in retail. I will not sell anything that I do not personally believe in. I owe this to my customers for their loyalty to me, the small business retailer, throughout the years when they could have shopped anywhere in town, but they chose quality over price and chose to spend their money with me first.
